VVHILE AT SCHOOL curse of God, wherewith we fly to heaven The seniors glory in experiment- ing. They have learned much con- cerning c h e m i cal and physical changes. They have also learned the action of acids, especially on cloth- es. Sister Regina has efficiently helped us to appreciate the problems of science, and we are all grateful to her. The freshmen seem to enjoy dis- secting bugs and worms and then examining them under the micro- scope. Sister Agnes Terese has been the able leader of this Class. This is a new course offered this year. Angles, squares, and circles have been the stumbling blocks for many students, but under the leadership of Sister Regina, many have stepped over them and no longer fear them. Sister Rosemary helps the fresh- men to untangle the X's, y's and z's. Sister Helen Clare has prepared many of Decatur Catholic High School's students for the business World. She teaches typing, short- hand, and bookkeeping. Her work is appreciated by every student. - A CHEMlS'l'l1Y l3IOI.043Y GEQJMET RY TYPING

Ill. S ILICLIGIUX ENGLISH HISTORY LATIN NVHAT IVE DO Ignorance is the Knowledge the wing Religion is the most important of all our studies. It is to give us the opportunity of studying religion that We have a Catholic school. Father Hennes, together with the Sisters, has given us much spiritual training. Through his teaching We have learned to love our religion. Hence, he well deserves the grati- tude of every class. The correct usage of the English language, debating, appreciation for the drama and other forms of liter- ature are the chief topics of the English classes. Sister Barbara, our new teacher of English literature, has already endeared herself to our hearts. We feel that her efforts to further our knowledge of English have not been in vain. Sister Rosemary has taken every class on an imaginative journey to another section of the United Stat- es. She is the instructor in history, civics, and social problems. The classes have e nj o y e d these jour- neys, even if they were stormy at times, and wish to thank their lead- er for the safe return home. The freshmen and sophomores have studied, under the direction of Sister A g n e s Terese, the ancient language and r e m a i n s of Rome. These young people have found the subject interesting and Wish to eX- press their appreciation to their teacher. German is the modern lan- guage offered this year. 16

,' Wu Einar rf K Iglneirlkf 4 SHAKESPEARE What needs my Shakespeare for his honored bones The labor of an agc in piled stones? Or that his hallowed reliques should be hid Under a star-ypointing pyramid? Dear son of memory, great heir of fame, What need'st thou such Weak witness of thy name ? Thou in our Wonder and astonishment Hast built thyself a live-long monument. For Whilst to the shame of slow-endeavoring art Thy easy numbers flow, and that each heart Hath from the leaves of thy unvalued book Those Delphic lines with deep impression took, Then thou, our fancy of itself bereaving, Dost make us marble with too much conceivingg And, so sepulchred, in such pomp dost lie That kings for such a tomb would wish to die. JOHN MILTON
