W Remember Our Assistant Principals Y, . 3 -4 , 4 1 .s, , x 523: Miss Betts Miss Betts started her teaching career as soon as she finished high school. She taught two years in a country school in Hillsdale County before she began working for her B.A. at Hillsdale College. From Hillsdale she proceeded to the University of Wisconsin where she received her M. A., and then taught two years in Alpena. Mich- igan. After coming to Dearborn and teach- ing one year, Miss Betts went to Texas where she worked in an office. In two years she came back to DHS and taught a gen- eral course until she gained her present position as assistant principal in charge of schedules. Mr. Challis Mr. Challis received his B.A. at Mich- igan State Normal College and his M.A, at the University of Michigan. He first taught chemistry, physics, and general sci- ence at Trenton High in Trenton, Mich- igan. He came to Dearborn High in 1934 and taught physics and photography. From 1940 until 1944, Mr. Challis did attendance work on a full time scale. ln 1944 the United States Navy called him to serve his country. After returning to DHS he assumed full responsibility of attendance and is now Dearborn High's assistant prin- cipal in charge of attendance.
