There were 11 teachers, including the nurse. Of the group, Miss Amy Betts, then a math teacher, is the only one remaining. She now holds the post of assistant principal. § On the first yearbook staff was Frank McIntyre, now on the counseling staff. The art adviser was Grace Simmons, now Mrs. Robert Gregory and mother of the present editor. The senior class numbered 19, several of whom are well-known in the community’s business field today. § The first three issues of the book appeared in paper covers and sold for a dollar. The first two were bound with colored cord. § During the depression publication continued, though with much difficulty. When World War 2 caused many books to discon- tinue, The Pioneer did not miss an issue. § Though faced with numerous financial problems, it has always been solvent and has never been subsidized.
