Review of Dearborn’s 1925-1926 Athletics Due to a very late start with foot ball our season was not what we would term a successful one. We had no locker or shower room advantages and for that reason we did not get our team in physical shape for our opening game. We played Plymouth at Plymouth and due to our poor condition of players and lack of technical foot ball w« lost our opening game 7-6, In our second game we travelled to Wayne to meet our sister town and they sent us back home on the small end of a 0-0 score, Following this game we played Redford and this was the only bad beating we took all year. We held Redford the 1st half to a 0-0 score but faltered in the last half, After dropping our first three games we began to find ourselves and In successive Fridays we beat Ypsi 14-0, Northville 25-0 and Farmington Hit-0, the worst defeat ever handed a Farmington coached team. Following our foot ball season we started out on what proved to be the most successful basket ball season Dearborn High ever had. For our early season games we played our opening game with Cass Technical of Detroit and very easily defeated them on their own floor 21-9. Our next opponents named defeated us: Highland Park, who was In the state finals in class A at Ann Arbor beat us 25-17, Detroit Central 19-15 and Redford 31 13. Following this early season of games with class A schools we had a consecutive run of eleven games won. Commerce High of Detroit, class A school 19-14. Wayne 31-10, Ypsi” 25-9, Plymouth 40-10, Northville 15-14, Farmington 10-10, Wayne 45-8, Ypsi H3-10. Plymouth 34-14, Northville 23-17, Farmington 17-11, Coldwater 15-12. Following our league schedule winning every game on our schedule we entered the district tournament at Ann Arbor and were defeated our first game 17-10, but we were not eliminated. We entered the Regional Tournament at Michigan State Normal and won the Regional Tournament. In our opening game we drew Charlotte and beat them 25-7. Our next opponent was Ypsi” Central, the team that defeated us at Ann Arbor and we beat them 28-7, holding them to two field goals, In our final game we faced Wyandotte, the winners in the upper bracket and we defeated Wyandotte by a score of 17-15 and won the coveted cup. We then entered the state finals at Lansing and in our first game we were defeated 31 10 by St. Joseph the team that won the state tournament, This year’s success was due to the hard work and good team work of the boys and much credit should go to Captain Sloes, Hurch. Proctor (Capt. elect for 20 27) Cornell, Switxcr, ShHw, Scott, Sisson, Munroc, and Fox. The baseball team with the veterans Shaw, Swltxcr, Sloes, Wittcrsheim and Scott as u nucleus soon developed into u championship outfit. Dearborn won a double victory over every team in the league with the exception of Plymouth. As Plymouth was twice defeated by Farmington and Farmington twice defcaed by Dearborn, another championship was brought home. Shaw pitched a no-hit” no-run” game against Ypsilanti. 20
