DEAN lUNlCE COLLEGE CLASS HISTORY The fall of 1951 found us, the class of 1953, full fledged Deanites. We were full of new ambition-pioneers, with a great challenge before us. While learning the the do's and don't's around the campus, we, as somewhat baffled and enthusiastic freshmen, were busy making friends, getting to know our roommates, planning parties, and getting ready to launch our brilliant college careers. Then came the first blow--Hell Week! Freshmen girls were found with pale, unpainted facesg numerous pig-tails and bowsg balloons and lollipops -scrubbing Awpie Way with tooth brushes. tThis is college life?J. But, 'after all was said and done we suffered no losses and a good time was had by all. Our year as underclassmen sped merrily along its way, While we enjoyed those events which would soon become fond memories of Dean. Sports-cheering our team on to victory. Dances-l:'ounder's Day, Home- coming, Christmas formal, and 'Winter Carnival. The Old English Dinner with jesters and all. And then came the crowning of our beautiful May Queen, and Dean Pops night at Symphony Hall. Before we knew it, the seniors had graduated, the summer was over, and we were back to our old haunting grounds,-bag and baggage,-ready to step into the shoes of upperclassmen, capable of conquering the foe and even making -the Dean's List. The traditional activities kept us busy and then Christmas vacation was at hand. The decorations of Christmas trees and wreaths gave us the feeling of merriment and a wonderful time including the gala holiday festi- vities with the party held in Memorial Hall and later a delicious buffet -dinner and a plentiful supply of hot wassail. Marking periods were always a time for holding breaths, especially ,mid-years. Not a moment was spared from studying until at last it was over-then a relaxation spell followed by the annual trip to North Conway. Rest, eat, sleep, and ski-this was the life! Again we were out cheering our team-joining in school activities-- each person holding an important position in the History of our class. History has repeated itself this year with just as many laughs and loves as in the years before, and now all that remains of our college career is the big day --graduation. Behind us lie two years of college life, two years of study and friendship, and two long years of happiness-fraught with memories of Dean I. C. which we shall cherish always. Lest we forget. page T1-,ifty-5ix Nineteen Fifty three
