IUNIOR COLLEGE-CLASS PROPHECY Hi, there! Why I haven't seen you since-my goodness!-since 1953! What's happened to all our old classmates? Aren't we proud of FRAN ROTH? Imagine being the first woman presi- dent of the United States! And SHIRLEY IOHNSON is still a brain. She graduated from Vassar with honorsg then she took a special course at Smithg the Sorbonne in Paris, and is winding up at Oxford University next fall. I sure hope BARB DAVISON doesn't lose her job-she was the head car- toonist at the movie studio that FLO ROWELL blew up last week. Flo always loved dabbling in Chemistry, but she should have given up long ago. That same studio has just found a stand-in for Ethel Barrymore-none other than, BETSEY MIX. She's currently staring in Cheaper by the Dozen with IO SCHILKE'S twelve children playing the supporting roles. Remember the weekends we spent skiing at North Conway, N. I-L? SANDY KNABLIN finally persuaded her husband to buy the ski-tow and in her spare time she helps NAN WHEELER mend broken bones and dislocated shoulders, SALLY SANFORD is the proprietress of Hodgeson's Hotel up there. I hear the food is out of this world-IANE LYMAN and MARY PADULA are the head dieticians, you know. That reminds me, MARIE HULL has opened a coffee shop in Iceland and IOY WALKER is her head bookkeeper. CI wonder if Ioy ever did find her seven-foot prince charmingl? RAY MALVIN and IANE DRENNEN are still together. Ray is the publisher of that new magazine- Better Slums and Gardens and Ianie illustrates it. Remember our old Harvard rooter, BARB PARKS? Now that Parksie is Harvard's first woman baseball manager, she's revolutionized baseball. The outfielders have comfortable sofas with wheels on themg automatic pitchers have been invented, and the infielders have magnetic gloves to attract the balls. Ah, yes-there are quite a few of our girls associated with the schools of higher learning. NANCY FINNEN coaches ping-pong at Notre Dameg CA- ROLYN PRYGOCKI teaches basket-weaving at U-Conn. IOAN PIZZELLO tutors in Payne's painless pen-pushing at U. V. M.g and IAN SPENCER just warms the bench at Springfield. fSl'l9 lets George do the coaching-so he thinksll IUDY INGRAM has taken over Mr. Harney's old post at Dean, and imagine! RUTHIE HOUSTON and BARB CACCIARELLI are Dean's newest house- mothers! Anchors Aweigh! BARB FULTON is now chief cook and diaper Washer on the U. S. S. Forbes and her old room-mate BARB DeVITALIS goes along just for the ride. CSome of those sailors are so good-Iookingl. ANNA MacINNIS was their first stowaway-caught on a cruise to Scotland. ANN I-IERRLICH and ELLY GaNUN falso married to Naval officersl have bought an old Naval ves- sel which IOAN FRITTS and ROSE MARY BENZ designed and decorated. They transformed the cabins into adorable bridal suites. NORMA SWANSON and Wally were their first customers, then ELLY BOWLER, IOAN FOSTER, and EMILY DePIETRO and their husbands. VICKIE TOLFA and Ken had decided to make it their permanent residence until the quintuple-ts came into the picture. Have you heard about the COLLIS-CONOVERH dance studio that just opened on Broadway? LIZ MONOGAS took a few brush-up lessons before making her latest movie with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. DOTTY BELAN- GER designs and makes Liz's costumes, when she isn't busy sewing for Sam, and their little football team. Tempus Fugit! I really must run along now, but drop over to see me sometime and we can really reminisce about old times and days at Dean. Me? I just sold my latest novel, Love Life of Lil -they say the first engaged is the last married. Ah, well! Bye, bye! LILLIAN HAWKES Nineteen Fifty-three Page Thxrty fue

DEAN IUNIOR COLLEGE 1953 . . . CLASS PROP1-IECY . . . BOYS Well, gang-let's take a look at whats happened to the fellows-class of 1953. lOh, brotherll BILL BOUDROT can be found piloting the latest gimmic in space ships- designed by that famous creator of the new look in rockets-WALLY BENIA- MIN. The notorious crew consists of RONNIE SURLES-co-pilot and GILL MacCALLUM--navigator. On their last excursion to the moon, ED RIVA- DENEYRA went along to try to patent his Mexican jumping beans on Mars. ROGER DOBBROW, Mr. Clinton's protege, stopped off at Oxford University to pick up more knowledge of history, and in his place they took on WALLY LOHR and HARRY WEBBER, after they had completed their swim of the English channel. Yup, they've dealt with some mighty colossal characters on that space ship. For instance, DICK POLI-the great poet from Medfield, HARLOW WOHLFELDER and SHELDON YOUNG, who occupy a compartment made for poker players annoyrnousg and RUSS VEALE-still peeling potatoes and using them for ammunition. CWhat or bombardierll That wraps up the boys' prophecy, but to get serious for a minute-as you and I look back on this class of '53, you'll have to agree that they were a swell bunch of guys! DEAN lUNlCE COLLEGE CLASS HISTORY The fall of 1951 found us, the class of 1953, full fledged Deanites. We were full of new ambition-pioneers, with a great challenge before us. While learning the the do's and don't's around the campus, we, as somewhat baffled and enthusiastic freshmen, were busy making friends, getting to know our roommates, planning parties, and getting ready to launch our brilliant college careers. Then came the first blow--Hell Week! Freshmen girls were found with pale, unpainted facesg numerous pig-tails and bowsg balloons and lollipops -scrubbing Awpie Way with tooth brushes. tThis is college life?J. But, 'after all was said and done we suffered no losses and a good time was had by all. Our year as underclassmen sped merrily along its way, While we enjoyed those events which would soon become fond memories of Dean. Sports-cheering our team on to victory. Dances-l:'ounder's Day, Home- coming, Christmas formal, and 'Winter Carnival. The Old English Dinner with jesters and all. And then came the crowning of our beautiful May Queen, and Dean Pops night at Symphony Hall. Before we knew it, the seniors had graduated, the summer was over, and we were back to our old haunting grounds,-bag and baggage,-ready to step into the shoes of upperclassmen, capable of conquering the foe and even making -the Dean's List. The traditional activities kept us busy and then Christmas vacation was at hand. The decorations of Christmas trees and wreaths gave us the feeling of merriment and a wonderful time including the gala holiday festi- vities with the party held in Memorial Hall and later a delicious buffet -dinner and a plentiful supply of hot wassail. Marking periods were always a time for holding breaths, especially ,mid-years. Not a moment was spared from studying until at last it was over-then a relaxation spell followed by the annual trip to North Conway. Rest, eat, sleep, and ski-this was the life! Again we were out cheering our team-joining in school activities-- each person holding an important position in the History of our class. History has repeated itself this year with just as many laughs and loves as in the years before, and now all that remains of our college career is the big day --graduation. Behind us lie two years of college life, two years of study and friendship, and two long years of happiness-fraught with memories of Dean I. C. which we shall cherish always. Lest we forget. page T1-,ifty-5ix Nineteen Fifty three
