MEN'S STUDENT GOVERNMENT THE COMBINED Men's Student Government was organized in the early part ot the school year. A committee consisting of Academy and Iunior College men drew up a constitution which was ratified by the men students. A council was elected which proceeded to choose its own officers. This group immediately undertook the solution of many problems which confronted it. The liason be- tween student body ancl faculty and administration was greatly facilitated by this organization. FOOTLIGHTERS WE ARE PROUD to say the Dramatic Club of the year 1951 was a success, under the capable guidance of Miss Shelburne. They started off the year with two comedies, Saved from the Fate of Her Sister and The Triplinq Place. During the Christmas Vespers a Wonderful presentation of The Child is Born was performed. In April the senior class play Iar1uary Thaw was a huqe success and enjoyed by all. This play left a pleasant memory in the minds of all who saw it. GLEE CLUB DEAN'S GLEE CLUB played a large part in the Christmas program and also gave a very interesting performance at Easter tirne. On April 20th they journeyed to Hartford under the direction of Mr. Kendall Harney. Then came the main event of the year, when the club staged its oper- etta on May 19th. This program included the operettas Annie Get Your Gun, Mikado, and Brigadoon --these operettas have become a tradition which will never be forgotten by Dean stude ts. The club, composed of all Dean students interested in the theatre, viewed Death of a Salesman, and Romeo and Iu1iet. FOOTBALL TEAM UNDER THE leadership of our new coaches, Mr. Coons and Mr. Paine, the Red Demons displayed one of the most powerful and aqqressive attacks in many a year. Dean breezed victoriously through their first three games: Wilbra- ham, Mass. Maritime, and the previously undefeated Tufts Freshmen. Riddled by injuries, Dean suffered their first defeat by a score of 6-O to strong Suffield Academy. This was the start of Dean's downfall, which was followed by another defeat by Tilton. At the conclusion of the regular season, Dean put together a neat eleven wins and tour losses. Tournament play is Where the Demons really hit their stride. At Milton Academy they Won the Southeastern Mass. Championship. Prom there they went to Boston Garden. Here they won both games, which made Dean Champs ot New England. Favorites in the Glens Falls Tournament, Dean was defeated by Aquinas lnstitute. In the Consolation Tourney, which they Won, Dean defeated two strong clubs, St. Michael's of Brooklyn, and Cartaret Prep, tournament favorite.
