SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Seventeen pupils entered their first year of DeWitt High School in September, 1945 Those graduating from the Dewitt Grade School were Marilyn DeLong, Dorothy Henske, Joel Mead, Lovelle Plucknett, Ray Quackenbush Alan Schmale, and Shirley Schmohr These were joined by the followlng from various rural schools Loren Ebbers Belva Hahn, Meryl lnderlied, Lois Katz, Wilma Rahe, Vio let Schuerman, Donald Spilker, Doris Tiemann, Vernes Nollenburg, and Richard Sollenburg At the beginning of the Sophmore year dline Kis ling and Vernon Viebke joined the class and Marilyn De Long left us This gave us an enrollment of eighteen During the vear we gained recognition by the following people Dorothy Henske and Doris Tlemann who were mem be s of a play cast entltled 'Orville's Sig Date,' for the purpose of raisirg money for the P T A Belva Hahn also won the essav contest which was sponsored by the local American Legion In our Tunior year we shrunk' Donald Sichley join ed us but left us at the beglnnlng of the second semes ter Others who left us durinf the vear were Toel Mead, Alan Schmale, and Jilma Rahe On November 9, 1947 Loren Wbbers departed from us in answer to the Iord's calling 'Leave It To Us' was given on December 15 as our Junior Class plavn Those who took part were Ray Duack enbush, Lovelle Plucknett, Donald Spllker, Richard Woll enburg, Dorothy Henske, Doris Tlemann, Shirlev Schmohr, Vernes Nollenhurg, Lois Katz, and Selva Hahn 'Falrylandn was the theme we carried out 1n the evening of Apr1l 16, 1948 in the 'ethodist Church base ment A prom was held afterward in the Opera House During the fe r our class won honors 1n the following way Parliamentary Urocedure Contest Donald Spilker, Ray Quackenbush, and Dlchard Vollenburg who placed fire second and third respectively Cheerleaders First team Shirley Schmohr and Doris Tiemann, Second team Dorothy Uenske and Belva Hahn Dorothy Henske and lovelle Dlucknett who were chos en to go to Girl's State and Boy's State respectively Twelve people BRBLH made up our class for our final uear in school After the first few weeks of school we initiated the Freshmen into our school svstem much to our engoyment Officers for the first seme ter were Preside Ray cuacke rush, Vice Dresldent Donald Spilker, Secre tary Dorothy Pensle, Treasurer hirley Schmohr, Student Council Rav Quackenbush, Doris Tlemann, and Qichard loll enburg Vrs Carter was a ain cho en as our sponsor nCall Ve Darling' is the name of our play which we will present on April l in the Opera iouse, Vveryone in the class is a member of the cast Activi'1es vet remaining are Senior Hducation Day, Junior enlor banquet, Class Night, and Bacclaureate 'e have chosen Dr Ieroy Laase from lincoln, Nenraska as our Commencement speaker . 4 D . .
