ADMINISTRATION A-5' -If-v Superintendent Harry M Talbot assumed duties as head of De Soto High School on Feb rua.ry first, succeeding Mr Ralph P0019 who p a s s e d aw av November twenty third, after twe nty se ven years service to th e school Mr Talbot's fr len dl y manner, sympathetic mterest, and tzreless devotion to the school have already endeared him to the hearts of the students It is expe c ted that t.he school will achieve new hexghts under lus marvelous leadershxp Mr J C Culwell, who has beenprmcl pal of De Soto H1gh School for the last nine years IS an outstand1ng administrator ln th1s area His presidency of the Jefferson County Schoolmasters group in 1950-51 is evidence of that truth He has coped with the numerous problems of the high school with alacrity facility, and sound judgment. ' - 31 .f -1-H' TY' 'Qt 12- ,sr--nr 1 Shown above are the members of the De Soto High School Faculty for this year. Inthe front row, from left to right are: Byron Munson, band, O. N. Hunter, football and track coach and physical education, Clifford Bryan, basketball coach and physical education, I . C. Culwell, principal and biology, Wallace Ramsey, speech, publications, and English, Herbert Rice, industrial arts, Leona Otey, home economics. In the second row are: Alberta Buschman, art and glee club, Mary Cookson, librarian, Gladys Hendricksen, commerce, Mary Rose Clyde, social studies, Olive Fitch, social studies, Ronald Evans, mathematics, Ed Ruddy, diversified occupations and counseling. In the back row are: Jack Finney, science, Minnie Brouming, Englishg and Sally McKemy, English. In October we had our first faculty meeting and chose Mr. Ramsey as chair- man. Mr. Ruddy and Mr. Hermann Hoffmarm, from the state guidance department presented Case Study Techniques in Guidance in November. In December Adapt- ing the School to the Student's Ability was our topic of discussion. January's program by Mr. Ruddy was a slide illustrated lecture about Pri- mary Mental Abilities . In February Miss Fitch and Mr. Ruddy presented a study of the results of the youth inventory taken in the senior class. At this meeting we welcomed Miss Mary Lou Lamb, who replaced Mrs. Hendricksen, and Mr. Harry M. Talbot, our new superintendent. The March program was devoted to a dis- cussion of Criterion Two of the North Central Association---our school's activities program being the main topic. Afaculty dinner was held in the home economics room in March, the meal being prepared by Mrs. Otey and other ladies of the faculty. Plans were made for an all school picnic in the spring.
