ELLIS Public Information Officer Commander Amphibious Force U. S. Atlantic Fleet, cfo FPO, New York, N.Y. Dear Commander Ellis: Sorry for the long delay in answering your correspondence about the evaluation of the De Soto County cruise. The delay basically was caused by the number of reports made on this particular cruise and as a result, the lack of backup material left on hando The cruise was considered by this Command as outstanding, and I believe mostly due to the high caliber of the officers and men which were sent here to represent the Navy-Marine Corps team. Community leaders are still talking about the cruise and consider it one of the finest events to take place in this area last year. The amount of press and television coverage was far greater than expected, and as a result, the public was definitely made aware of the Navy-Marine Corps team and the public image was greatly increased in this area. It is only hoped that another cruise of this type can be scheduled again in the near future, and you can be assured to receive the same record crowds and publicity. Sincerely V 'few 1 J- 17 W. H. DRAPER. Lieutenant Iolonel U. S. Marine Corps i III U XJ
