The 426,167 persons who visited the LST enjoyed a lively, dramatic presentation. Millions of others also got the message. They heard it from the visitors, from radio and TV broadcasts beamed into eight million homes, and read it in 7,128 column inches I of newspaper stories. Advance teams preceding the ship placed pictures, stories, radio spots and TV footage, set up interviews and made visit arrangements. Navy-Marine Corps information specialists sent out 440 photos and 97 releases to 19 news media besides port media, and sent out 900'home town news stories. 6 Cleveland's 54, 094 visitors led the 17 cities.
