As the saying goes, A janitors' work is never done! From 6:00 in the morning, until 10:00 at night, there is always a janitor in the building. Best dressed Talented musicians Initiation 1974 was held in the gym due to the rain that fell all week. The freshmen class exhibited many fine and worthy talents, and honored the Seniors by singing songs, doing cheers, and other small tasks of kindness. Their faces became different shades of red and pink on dress-up day when the Seniors were turned loose with their lipstick. Some parents, friends, and the entire student body enjoyed the antics of our favorite greenies. 36 Model freshmen Take a bow, freshmen. Betty Brown Jay Hollingsworth With Lost in Space as a theme, the'whole dance ended with everyone floating from one star to another. The lights were sparkly , the music neat , and the whole atmosphere was HEAVENLY. 39 40 Despite the rain which stayed all week, this Homecoming was full of fun and excite- ment. The freshmen spent the week bowing to Seniors, carrying their books, opening doors, scraping plates, and wearing cos- tumes designed by Manufacturers of the Senior Class and they spent the last day in an assembly showing off their unusual tal- ents. There was a model freshman; sev- eral musicians; barrel scrubbers; marble pushers; and last, but not least, two very talented girls who measured a basket ball court by using two hot dogs laid end for end. On Thursday night here was a bonfire with Pete Snyder crowned as Bulldog Puppy. Our Homecoming game was not a complete vic- tory, but it wasn't a loss. We tied the Bis- mark Blue Devils 14-14. Student Council returned this year with a new adviser, Mr. Dave Lewis. They put on homecoming once again which was sparkling, thanks to their new mirror ball. A dance was sponsored by S. C. on January 18 to celebrate the end of the first semester. The trusty pop machine is once again running at noons, and the paper ma- chine is still going full speed in the hall for those last minute needs for pencil and paper. 0 f f 1 c e r s Who said Student Council was a use- less committee? Ag. pro- ject is to build an ark. This fun game is designed especially for RHS stu- dents. It is dull, depress- ing, and full of hassles. There is a diploma of ques tionable value to win and time and freedom to lose. Good Luck!! 49 Starting out with five and ending up with twenty is surely something to be proud of. The five seniors who have held NHS mem- bership for two years were joined by 2 seniors; 9 juniors; and for the first time, 4 sophomores, in a candlelight service on April 2, 1974. The Starting Five had a bake sale to raise money for the certificates and pins presented to the new members. They attended three Red Mask Produc- tions at the Katheryn Ran- dolph Theater. After many long rehearsals, the music department put on its finest showing. The play was truly professional, thanks to Mr. James Beebe, director, and all those who contributed their time and effort. This year Distributive Education, better known as D. E. was a new course offered to selected seniors. In this course, the kids had a regular class time in the morning, sharing experiences and learning new ideas, and then at 1:00 they left the school and went to their various work stations. The Varsity squad had 2 Seniors, Vicki Binkley and Lil Duez, and 3 Juniors, Sherry Ehlenfield, Jo Hohnson, and Tonday Priest, plus Senior Pam Burrell, mascot. At the end of the first semester Vicki and Pam graduated and Micki Marriage took over as mascot. The J. V. cheerleaders had one Freshman, Con- nie Ellis, and three Sophomores, Terri Fritz, Brenda Bange, and Lois Moreland. Miss Pepping sponsored all the girls. Moreland. 64 The Lemon Drop Kids returned again this year with a new coach, Mr. Oliver Yates, and did a great job. Our final record was 16-8, and to top it off, we won the Vermilion County Conference Title too. The varsity consisted mostly of seniors, and they will be sorely missed next year. This year the JV team had a record of 9-9. There is a lot of fine talent here which will bolster the varsity in the future. Also this is the first time the Freshmen have had a regular schedule. We anticipate more game for next year. There were two Freshmen teams; the most our school has had in a long while. This year they were just starting. The gym was transformed into a Shakespearean Garden and PLUSH filled it with music. A hog roast was the thing for post prom. It was held at Ward Park in Ridge Farm and was a finishing highlight for the evening. 73 Yearbook Staff Somebodys got to do it so it might as well be us! That’s the way our staff went this year. It started out with about 15, but when the work began, there were four who stuck with it and a couple of others who hung around. But all in all, it worked out just as well. The Vidio Tape room was Christened as The Year- book Room and that didn't leave much for anything else. A very small room for a very small staff! To raise a little money, candy was sold at noon and at the Donkey Basketball game. Ads were sold, letters were written, and prayers were given.
