The different sections of the yearbook- the Administration and Faculty, the Clarrer, the Aftivities, the Peifronali- tier, and the Sporty--symbolize the many people who help put the 1963 astronauts into orbit. The Administration and Faculty represent the Tecbnieianr who have worked behind the scenes to get the astronauts ready for the launching. The Classes are the Artronantr who are trained carefully before they venture into space. The Clubs are the Organizationr in which the astronauts learn the teamwork so necessary for a successful orbiting. Signifying the numer- ous planets, the Personalities and the Sports are termed Selectmen and Pre- fliglatr, respectively. The Beauties, for instance, are Venus, the goddess of beauty and love, the athletes are Mars, the god of war. As you, the reader, watch the '63 Seniors go into orbit, you can also get a glimpse of the pros- pective astronauts who may some day bring fame to themselves and DHS. .,,. t,,,,,T, ,. ,MTW - 4 , ' . -i ,ffm -...V-...U -WJ I rr' film' f f ,f eolicafion -xx For a successful rocket launching, more than one person is involved in getting the as- tronaut and the rocket ready. You, the students of DHS, were instrumental in launching the yearbook by your selection of a person to whom it would be dedicated. just as it takes more than one person to launch a rocket, it also takes more than one person to launch DHS in the orbit of life. As a result, the ,63 LEOP- ARD is dedicated to all of the efficient tech- nicians fteachersj in DHS. li ifimtm A 6 cc f' Lbgg Stl. 4' SAQ Jsvwv I i 1 i Sharyn and Stanley take orders from the Editors. eola Q Ml .SLU Rodger and his subscription staff. Wood United States Air Force To the Student Body: Because the theme of the '63 LEOPARD this year concerns space and flight in space, people who were connected with aeronautics had to be chosen to select the Most Beauti- ful and the Most Handsome. We, the members of the staff, wracked our brains to think of someone to ask to select the beauties and handsomes. When this failed to produce effects, magazines and books were thoroughly searched. Everyone from l'Superman to Flash Gordonu was debated and rejected. Before desperation made us write to Captain Taltower, we decided to confine our selectors to our home state. Mustering our courage, we wrote a letter to Little Rock Air Force Base in jacksonvilleg and much to our relief, two people agreed to make the selections - First Lieutenant D. E. Wood and Lieutenant Lucy Gillon. These two have our appreciation and gratitude. aw., Duvam, Lieutenant Lucy Gillon United States Air Force HEADQUARTERS SZSTH COMBAT SUPPORT GROUP CSACD UNITED STATES AIR FORCE LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS REPLYTO ATTNOF1 Information Office 31 January 1963 To: Linda Dillahunty Editor, The Leopard Dc-:Queen High School DeQueen, Arkansas Linda: Lt.
