Rx V I ,jmfw U y 1 YM OVQWOV IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE is indeed an age-old slogan which merchants for hundreds of years have found to contain much truth. Although some phases of DHS activities are highly advertised Qand justly deserve to bej, there are those products - the worth of which De Queen citizens are little aware - which need higher billing. For this reason the l959 LEOPARD Staff has adopted as its theme the above adage. In these pages it has attempted to show the public the value of the Administrations and the worth. of the Faculties without which all other phases of school life would be inferior. The 500 Students possess an inestimable worth. Did not four seniors rank in the 90 percentile in the recent State English and Psychological test? Did not two Seniors take the National Honor Society Achievement Test? - The ten Clubs have great potentialities. Hlhat about the Gold Emblem Award the FFA received? Surely being acclaimed one of the outstanding groups in the Nation merits a big billing. These activities which have received recognition in the past have recently added new laurels: Unofficial State Champs of Class A Football, District Basketball Champions, and State Track Champs. These demand a billing like that of Bond Clothes on Broadway. The DHS Band Places on All-State Band. This should be the contents of one billboard written in big letters. There is one asset, although intangible, which needs more recognition, for without this all the other DHS values would be dwarfed. No, it isn't a product that can be bought in a store: but it can be found in the classrooms, on the gridiron, and in the pep assemblies. It is that DHS Spirit! Perhaps if the staff were writing an ad for this last asset, it would read something like this: To You De Queen High School We're always proud to stand. gf X ,E ADMINISTRATION FACULTY CLASSES CLUBS SPORTS PERSONALITIES JUNIOR HIGH f i Qlay x N 1 I Ida Eley, James Ldwards, Stant Editor Art Edt Ernest Sibert, Photographer Ti qu 0 '- Roger Mon tgomery, 3 Photographer TVhen better students are made, Y- Cozfer the earth ztzth future farmer The home of lzomemakersu , f 66 ur uilohncqs MM gl!
