40 THE SODALITY OF OUR LADY The Sodality of Our Lady, an associ- ation founded by the Society of Jesus and approved by the Holy See, is a religious body. The aim and purpose of the Sodality is to foster in its members an ardent de- votion, reverence, and filial love toward the Blessed Virgin Mary, and through this devotion and with the protection of so good a Mother,to strive for one's person- al sanctifioation, the sanctification of, our neighbor, and to defend the Church of Jesus Christ against the attacks of the wicked. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the principal Patroness of the Sodelity, as the common name indicates. The Queen's Work is the voice of the Sodality. This magazine helps us to further our Sodality to become Catholic leaders to be well versed on Catholic subjects and to win the world for Christ through Mary. The Sodality aims at procuring the, greatest possible holiness for its members and extending to many others their salu- tary influences for the good of souls. Our Lady's Sodality consists of a Central Committee and subordinate commit- tees. The director is the controlling force in the Sodality, yet he shares his work with a number of committees, each of which has some definite work to do. The central committee is made up of a moderator, prefect, secretary, and a treasurer. The subordinate committees of our Sodelity ere: Eucharistic Committee, Our Lady's Committee, Apostolic Committee Catholic Truth, Social Life, and Parish Loyalty. Each Committee consists of a chairman, secretary, and members. Besides the ordinary meetings, eounselor's meet- ings are held each month. Our Sodality has a General Communion each month, on the first Sunday, unless there are special reasons for some other day. we also have a retreat every year in honor of the Blessed Virgin. we also have the May Crowning which is a beau- tiful event.
