Jack Waggoner Grady West BS-Sul R055 BS-Howard Payne This year, D. H. S. students taking social studies are offered American history, world history , world geography, and civics. American history deals with the study of our nation's history from the early colonial period through the present time . World geography and world history students examine other countries and cities as well as the history of major world events. Civics deals with our nation's democratic form of government.

At lower right: Child Development students are in deep discussion. All Brenda Jarrell Darylene Hodges BS-ACC BS-TWU Students at DHS are offered courses in home and fam ily living. This year the courses offered are Home Eco- nomics I and II, taught by Miss Brenda larrell and Con- sumer Education, Home and Family Living, and Child Development taught by Mrs. Darylene Hodges. Consumer Education and Home 8: Family Living involve field trips to grocery stores, the bank, and var- ious shopping trips. The Consumer Education class has been visited by numerous guest speakers, such as, a local physician, highway patrolman, and an insurance agent. Child Development students learn the responsibility of taking care of infants and young children. Home Economic students learn the basics of home- making. They study personality, self-concept, and personal adjustment. Other topics for study include color, home furnishing, and home repair.
