Junior Varsity Basketball This year was a learning one for the DLS J'V's, with coach Kaliski leading the Way. The team started slowly, with a l-8 record, but the turning point of the season was their come-from-behind vic- tory over Liberty. Down by ten in the last quarter, they rallied to Win 54-50. They compiled a 7-7 record for the re- mainder of the campaign. Kaliski seemed to stress discipline in his coaching, and it showed by the steady improvement of the team over the season. The JV team members hope to be a welcomed addi- tion to next year's Varsity.

Varsity Basketball The 1977 Spartan Varsity Basketball team started off the season in high fashion by de- feating the highly ranked Campolindo Cougers. They nearly defeated CAL Champion St. joseph's Pilots, but fell a few points short in the final seconds. Overall, the team finished with a 8-18 record. Approaching the beginning of league With a 7-7 pre-season record, the Spartans faced five of the east bay's finest teams, many of which being ranked in the top twenty of several east bay polls. Despite a l-ll league record, the team enjoyed a productive season.
