DE LA SALLE HIGH SCHOOL KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI VOL. NO. XX DEDICATION BASKETBALL Basketball is a miniature of life. We start the season with a blank scoreboard, an 0-0 record. We see a goal and We figure out how to get there. For some it is too much. Some will do anything to reach it. Others see Life and Basketball in reality and conform. The Truth and Beauty of Basketball is that a player knows Where he stands. Am I succeeding in reaching my goal? He can see the reasons and the results very plain. We are proud to Dedicate Our 1967 Parade to Basketball as found in Our Team. Coached by Mr. Joe Grantham, who gave Our Basketball Team the essentials of Christian education. Growthg physically, spiritually, and mentally. A boy must have all three lements to be a Christian Citizen. And who is to say physical is not the most important in educating 600 boys? No one will look at Our Basketball Team and say that it did not help De La Salle to become Christian Citizens. at UE 1 wwf THE RECORD Oak Park 92 59 Lincoln 68 63 Truman 61 48 Manual 58 55 Shawnee Mission South 57 48 Hogan 63 58 St. joe Central 59 44 LEE'S SUMMIT TOURNAMENT Center 64 41 Raytown 69 46 Rodthurst 60 56 Miege 52 49 Southeast 65 61 Sumner 52 45 Rodchurst 62 65 A Liberty 58 45 K. My father went here. My brother went here. My friends were coming here. I had to, mom made me. I wanted to play football. Where else could I go? The school is old-the spirit's lousy. It is hell getting here. The neighborhood should be hit with an H bomb. I hated some of my teachers, what dorks. Some of the kids were rat finks. Boring-stupid-jail-repetitious-inane-ridiculous. But you know- Some of these kids are the best I'll ever know. Athletically, Who's better? Murphy. Rebori. Capta. Scholastically, We are improving. Smith. Henderson. Myer. And who will ever forget Brother Jerome, Bede, Stan, Bar The change of teachers was hard on us. We didn't help. Those of us who will go to college have the knowhow. The Army will get men who will do the job. We're not perfect. Our school's not perfect-in many ways we must Rank at the bottom of a lot of lists. And somehow- Big D produces the kind of guy I,d like to live Next door to. Even marry my sister. I'm glad it's over. It seemed an con. just yesterday. I have become a man. I have become a Brothers boy. I'm glad I went to Big UD . lf P , ., .4 .Q.,1q:3 We .P -3 ,JS . i I J F k ,,... ,ip w , Q , 'Q fifig Q .5 2'-age V mf.55tf , 2 ' 5 1 ., if X-+ wi ' ' :fliifn f gt? Without mastery of our native language we can learn nothing . . . all else depends upon our abilities to read . . . to write . . . to communicate by speech and letter. The facets of English are many . . . literature . . . grammar . . . com- position . . . journalism . . . reading classes, but all are vital in some degree to someone.. As a department is judged by its teachers, English ranks high. Brothers Bernard and Christo- pher, Mr. Frogley, and Mr. Matthews are qualified, able and determined to do their job.
