Calculus I Professor Mr. Barry Lieske Director of Student Services Student Council Moderator WE RULE! What We Say. GOES! (sometimes) As new principal of 'De Br. Steven has quickly become a friend to the students through listening to their wants and needs. Br. Steven came in with an open mind and has shown true Islander Spirit . Br. Walter and Mr. Lieske worked closely with Br. Steven on matters dealing with the student body. Both are a part of the coaching staff along with Mr. Gorde, Recruiting and Ms. Law-son. Athletic Director. Br. Walter keeps track of all the students grades (be VERY nice to him) and schedules. Calculator in hand, Mr. Steve Pumper controls all of our money in the business office and he coaches baseball. Keeping all of them in line are the secretaries, Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Johnson, who do just about everything else that needs doing. 4 Administration

In Memory Of Brother Richard Benton-House FSC On November fourth, nineteen hundred and eighty-seven, our former principal. Brother Richard passed away in Thoreau, New Mexico. He served as principal of De La Salle from July, 1984 to July, 1987. Brother Richard had started teaching at the St. Bonaventure Indian Mission. Brother Richard started our first Advanced Placement courses. He restructured the school's fundraising program and instituted a tuition aid program. Improvements were made to the computer room, weight room, cafeteria and the overall appearance of 'A' building with the addition of a new roof, desks, chairs, and wall paneling in the skyway and lobby. To add the finishing touches, Br. Richard allowed for a new gym floor and a thorough reconstruction of the science wing in 'B' building. Brother Richard was bom in Chicago, Illinois on December eighth, 1933, and attended De La Salle Institute there. He graduated in 1951 from the La Salle Institute in Glencoe, Missouri, the Christian Brothers' novitiate. He came to Minnesota to attend St. Mary's College and finished in 1955 with a B.A. in History, minoring in English, Philosophy, Education, and Theology. He earned his masters of Arts in 1958 and completed a Ph.D. in American History at Michigan State in 1969. Brother Steven Sims FSC, principal, commented that Brother Richard was an insightful man who generally brought his goals to completion . Brother Walter Schreiner FSC, vice-principal, said He will be missed here . Brother Richard will be missed by all. — Editors of Delta 1988 and the De La Salle community. They set the policies of the school for rules and discipline. In addition they help bring about general improvements for the school. The board consists of elected and appointed members.
