Here ore some student responses to that question: Private schools offer o better education.'' One student left o public school claim.ng it wos o wosre of rime ond no one really cored whot I did. Several students did not wont to lose their religion. Private schools provide religious education ond that's whor we wont. Others like the limited enrollment rhor con provide close relationships. Many offered stereo-type comments, such os: Public schools hove oil the trouble makers who smoke ond don't core about education. or Private schools hove oil the goody-two-shoes who ore studious ond straight.” Those who need a strong high school background for further educorion ond worthwhile career proise the private schools. Ultimately everyone knows rhor education depends primarily on the student. Most students were glad that there wos o choice for public between public ond private schools. 4 Feature Poge4 1. Where do we go from here? wos o common question for Islonders with o few hours to spore. Some options were within walking distance. The new $050 mil. City Center completed in 1980 wos o favorite attraction. The 80 shops kept everyone well dressed, entertained ond nourished (?). while the skyways kept everyone mobile and worm in the below zero weather. An 8 block walk to the Metrodome could have been to see the Vikings, Twins or Gophers win a gome or ro earn money. Many of the school's clubs earned money distributing odvertisments outside the Dome. Who said moking money wosn'r fun? For the more studious o trip ro the Public Library wos common. Bur sooner or later everyone ended up there to do the lost minute” assignment given three weeks before. In another direction a trek to Northeast Minneapolis would take one to Sr. Anthony Main, a former warehouse. Renovated in 1977 it is filled with different shops ond eateries.
