Text from Pages 1 - 96 of the 1979 volume:

DE LA SALLE... A SPECIAL PLACE TO BE Here at De La Salle, surviving all the hardships of learning, is a trait unique to all of us, that will never be lost. There is a feeling of closeness, openness, and that of sharing within the students, faculty, and staff of De La Salle. New and old concepts taught at De, may be applied to our lives for many years to come. The acceptance of one another is a strong point in everyone at De. Below is a quote from a banner in the school that should be remembered always: Accept me as I am, so I may learn what I can become. This quotation, along with many other ideas at De, is the spirit that De La Salle High School will have, eternally ringing throughout its nallways. i The lazy river passes by, sharing the secrets of time. We look to it not only as a symbol of tradition, but also as a symbol of change for the future. Each day arrives, becomes the past, and we look back and wonder how time has gone so quickly. As we reminisce over all that we've shared, we realize that like the river, we are siowiy chanping. We recall the happiness; the warmth of the sun, tne falling of the rain, the puppy love and the heartbreak. Yet, through all our times, the river remains, still rolling, still cnuckling, and still winding around our island. And time goes on as we do, DOWN THE LAZY RIVER. 2 LAZY RIVER 3rother Basil... It was hard during all the times when everything seemed to go wrong at once. My special thanks go to Steve Roth and Mary Boeser for being there when the goinrr got rough. I thank Doug Mruz for the unheard of originals and the Drink , and all of those around me who have kept their patience and their understanding to the max . I wish tne underclassmen the best of luck, and I hope tney never lose the spirit that we all know at De. Thanks to everyone, Rob Conant. Editor, 1979 Delta Mary Boeser's comments: The existence of this book is largely due to a lot of hard work by people who really didn't have to take on the responsibility. A special thanks goes out to the 1980 Delta staff for their extra time. 84 . 88
