... In the course of Its history, De La Salle has evolved to meet changing conditions. But the basic values and aims remain constant: to prepare young people for a Christian life; to educate them as complete human beings and to help them grow spiritually, intellectually, physically and emotionally. An education should not be the mere acquisition of a lot of useless facts but rather the ability to gather and apply meaningful data which insures social and Intellectual growth. Both the faculty and the administration of this school are eager to try new ways of making education current and meaningful to our students. Both are equally ready, however, to return to old ways if they seem better. This is why the open campus policy was abandoned, in order to insure greater contact time between teacher and a student. Some students learn this educational approach faster than others, but the aim of this school is that all will learn it, thereby becoming self-propelling students of life situations, cultivating through the practice of Christian ethics a set of principles which will see them through the rough spots of the future. It is the intent of this publication that words will be kept at a MINIMUM and that STUDENT ACTION will prevail. By location and philosophy this Is a metropolitan school with a student body that reflects the variety of the city In social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. HERE THEY ARE . . .
