THIS WAS 'm A Or JOE SHRAKE'S ROOKIE YEAR AS VARSITY COACH. IT % sJ JM W TOOK THE FIRST FEW GAMES OF THE SEASON TO GET THE £ £A V“ OFFENSE MOVING. DURING THAT TIME, THE TEAM RELIED ON THE HOT WORK OF ALL-STATE FORWARD, TIM BROSNAHAN, WHO LED THE TEAM WITH AN AVERAGE OF 18 POINTS A GAME. DOMI- -g ifA NATING THE BOARDS FOR THE ISLANDERS WERE SENIOR BOB SKELLY W mm : and junior gary hipwell, both 6 5. by the end of the season, “ DE HAD A BALANCED SCORING ATTACK. DE BOMBED CHASKA GUARDIAN AN- ? v ▼ GELS AND BLAKE TO CAPTURE THE REGION 4 CHAMPIONSHIP AND A SPOT IN THE STATE TOURNEY. DE DREW DULUTH CATHEDRAL IN THE FIRST ROUND AND M EMERGED VICTORIOUS 54 TO 49. THE NEXT GAME WAS AGAINST AUSTIN PACELLI, 1 WHO HAD DEFEATED THE ISLANDERS TWICE IN THE REGULAR SEASON. IT WAS A 1 HARD-FOUGHT GAME; DE EDGED OUT PACELLI BY A SCORE OF 59 TO 56. IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, THE ISLANDERS BOWED TO A SUPERIOR TEAM FROM GRACE BY A SCORE OF 63 TO 42. SOPHOMORE PAT REYNOLDS AND SENIOR TIM BROSNAHAN WERE NAMED TO THE ALL-STATE TEAM, BROSNAHAN FOR THE SECOND TIME. BROSNAHAN WAS PLACED ON THE ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM; GARY HIPWELL AND BOB SKELLY RECEIVED HONORABLE MENTION. DE LA SALLE IS VERY PROUD OF ITS MEMBERS OF THE SECOND-IN-THE-STATE TEAM.
