The Junior Contact group, under the direction of Brother Fidelis, has recovered from a relatively slow start, and has blossomed into a productive and successful organization. With the indoctrination of many leaders of the Junior class, the group is experimenting in the teaching of Confraternity of Christian Doctrine religion classes to grade school students in the area. With the help of Brother Fidelis, the group is sure that the operation will be successful, as it has been for several years at Bcnildc. This new’ plan, when placed beside such past accomplishments as the annual Christmas food drive, foreshadows a profitable year for the junior group. Sophomore Contact at De La Salle is an organism designed to capitalize on the apostolic spirit present within the individual, a spirit given a special dimension through the sacrament of Confirmation. Through discussion and special activities of an apostolic kind, particularly through the teaching of Catechism to grammer school students attending public schools, the Sophomore Contact member continues to deepen himself and share his strength of love with others. A special project this year has been to extend Contact throughout the Sophomore department since it is a firm belief that the purpose of Contact is such that each Sophomore has a Christian right to belong and develop himself through the activities outlined above. RETREAT Early this year the Seniors were given a two-day intermission in their school life. These few days, sj ent in an environment of silence and solitude at Buffalo, Minnesota, gave the graduates to-be a chance to corral themselves to think. Upon arriving, the students were warmly greeted by the director, Father McManus, and briefed on the significance of the retreat. During the retreat the Seniors found time to pull themselves back to earth and realize what their main purpose in life is. Private conferences were offered by the retreat masters, Father Keg-Icr and Father Wagner. At the end of the retreat each Senior found himself with a renewed sense of responsibility and dedication to God.
