Its purpose is to help itself and others both spiritually and materially. In order to carry out these aims in a productive manner, the group has adopted a program composed of discussion and action, with the emphasis put on latter. Senior Contact has braced itself for a record number of projects this year. It has given assistance in the Sno-Dazc Dance; it made itself responsible for the distribution of the Christmas baskets; it has, by numerous suggestions, worked toward the betterment of the Senior Class; it has assisted in the maintenance of the gymnasium. But the biggest project was one by which the members became “Big Brothers” to sixteen underprivileged boys of grade school age. Members have spent many of their free week end hours with their little brothers in outings, parties, and other forms of recreation. Senior Contact has accomplished much in the past years; it is a fine example of what Catholic Action should be. “Contact's Big Brothers Christmas Party”

The Junior Contact group, under the direction of Brother Fidelis, has recovered from a relatively slow start, and has blossomed into a productive and successful organization. With the indoctrination of many leaders of the Junior class, the group is experimenting in the teaching of Confraternity of Christian Doctrine religion classes to grade school students in the area. With the help of Brother Fidelis, the group is sure that the operation will be successful, as it has been for several years at Bcnildc. This new’ plan, when placed beside such past accomplishments as the annual Christmas food drive, foreshadows a profitable year for the junior group. Sophomore Contact at De La Salle is an organism designed to capitalize on the apostolic spirit present within the individual, a spirit given a special dimension through the sacrament of Confirmation. Through discussion and special activities of an apostolic kind, particularly through the teaching of Catechism to grammer school students attending public schools, the Sophomore Contact member continues to deepen himself and share his strength of love with others. A special project this year has been to extend Contact throughout the Sophomore department since it is a firm belief that the purpose of Contact is such that each Sophomore has a Christian right to belong and develop himself through the activities outlined above.
