NINE WHO ENDURED FOR NINE MONTHS Teaching is too often a thankless job. Unfortunately, the position of advisor, which requires so much extra time, effort, and devotion, is even more often passed over as something superfluous. It is the determination of this graduating class that their advisors, especially their Senior advisors, shall not be forgotten.

MR. JOHNSON This renowned Problems of Democracy instructor, usually the victim of many fond epithets and other descriptive adjectives, states in all sincerity that he has heard none of these nicknames this year. He is the perennial coach of the “B” basketball squad and the golf team, but his real ambition is “to rc-unitc the old ‘Ali-Baba and Swedish Angel' professional wrestling team.’ Mr. Johnson, a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish, numbers “planning the 1960 “bum shoot’” among his fondest memories at De La Salle. When not engaged in academic or extracurricular functions, he relaxes by playing golf and “shooting.” BROTHER J. EDWARD Brother Edward is one very busy man. He is athletic director, football and basketball moderator, and moderator of the Boosters’ Club. In fact. Brother says, “You name it and I’ve got something to do with it!” He is looking forward to the day when “peace and quiet reign in the locker room.” Nevertheless, Brother is presently content with the “cheerful, smiling faces” that greet him in the typing room. His spare moments are spent in either the locker room or the gymnasium. BROTHER H. FRANCIS Brother Fancis, moderator of the Senior Class and head of the Chemistry Department, is affectionately known as “Brother Wizard” or “the chief.” Concerning his ambition, Brother says he wants to be an excellent Brother, and excellent teacher, anti thus serve and honor God and save my soul.” This popular Senior religion and chemistry instnictor is particularly fond of “the wonderful scenery on and around the Island.” In time not spent in teaching or in shining his ripple-soled shoes, Brother enjoys reading and studying, golfing, and “molecular model building.” 7
