BENILDE WEEKEND Brother Norbert receives a standing ovation as a representative of WDC.Y presents the favorite principal trophy. Something that has never happened in the history of De La Salle took place this year. De students were given an opportunity to prove to the public that they had more school spirit than any other city or suburban school. Radio station WDGY held a contest in which students from all the schools in the area could cast votes for their favorite principal. In a final tribute to our principal, the men of De united and sent in 80,(X)0 postcards, which was over one-half of the total votes cast. This victory set the stage for one of the most enthusiastic pep assemblies ever held at De. The students’ cheers shook the rafters in an attempt to inspire the team to victory: a victory which meant a share in the CCC title. The enthusiasm paid off as the team went on to beat Benilde before 2,500 fans in the gym and cafetorium. Coaclt Reinhart addresses the student body.

1961 HOMECO Hog Hipwcll escorts Queen Colette Korab. De La Salle Homecoming is one of the most spirited occasions of the year. The events of this week were climaxed by the Homecoming dance on Friday night and the hard fought game against St. Cloud Cathedral on Sunday. As the week went on, the quality of the school spirit increased; and in the midst of the excitement, one of the better assemblies was held. At this time, the queen candidates were introduced to the school. During the Homecoming dance, the queen and her two princesses were chosen. Manv considered the dance as the “best yet.” others thought it was the “most spirited.” At the game on Sunday, the enthusiasm of the school was exemplified by the great number of students who attended the game. The outcome of the game was a loss for De La Salle in the score, but it was a success in that the school spirit reached new heights. f flf T m J V Escorts display their Yo-Yo skills.
