p 7 MHC , i 3 7 3.97 r Dedication As a small silver bell rings out this year, it calls to our minds the Silver Anniversary of the reception of the habit of the Brothers of the Christian Schools by Brothers Jarlath Quentin, Hermes Albert, and Hilbert Anthony. Some of us fully appreciate what these Brothers are doing for us. Yet, most of us do not reolize what goes into the making of o Brother, let us, therefore, to enlighten ourselves, compare the souls of these, our beloved Brothers, to that small silver bell which rings forth in this singular year. Within the course of their twenty-five years of teaching, the gifts of Wisdom and Understanding have been alloyed with Faith and Hope. Forged by blazing Charity and fiery Purity of Heart, these virtues soon began to take the shape of a bell; not just any bell, but one so strong in virtue that it is now almost impregnable to the forces of evil. With the strong, stout hammer of the grace of God and tho anvil of patience ond humility, both working unceasingly to attain this bell's unblemished finish, all imperfections ore being pounded out. Perseverance, the clapper of the bell, constantly rings forth ond brings out all its virtues and qualities. It is that same perseverance which made these Brothers abandon the pleasures of the world for that vocation which His Holiness, Pope Pius XII, described in saying: These Brothers are honored of Heaven with a special and complete vocation, likened closely to the dignity of tho Priesthood. They ore not serving the Church under the clergy but are serving on the level with priests. While this bell was being made, the Brothers' motto, Signum Fidei, was deeply imbedded upon their minds and hearts. The Sign of Faith, Faith in God and His graces, Faith that God will reward them with Paradise for all their sacrifices. But now, Signum Fidei may be seen upon their glorious bells engraved by their twenty-five years of teaching. Judging the future in light of the past, it is the firm belief of the students of De La Salle that Brothers Quentin, Albert and Anthony will polish up their bells and keep them shined. Kso thot when they ore taken to Heaven they may ring loud and clear alongside the throne of God. Therefore, to Brothers Jarlath Quentin, Hermes Albert ond Hilbert Anthony we. the Seniors of 1955, do proudly dedicate our DELTA. !■■■■■■■ Oil
