Pictured above and to the right, Mr. Fortmeyer has been teaching art at De Anza since it opened in 1957. During the summer Mr. Grogan taught summer school and oil painted. He also went to Canada and took his first satma bath. And he says, It really swings. Mrs. Patricia Post has taught at De Anza for only a year, but she has made her presence known. She sponsored the Drill Team on Mondays and Wed- nesdays and the Dance Club on Tuesdays and Thurs- days. She made the decorations for all the 9th grade activities. Mrs. Marie Sabin, our text book clerk, has been here since De Anza first opened in 1957. She at- tended Clint Junior College. When she came to De Anza she worked as attendance clerk and school banker. This year Mr. Vadnais helped Mr. Grogan super- vise the cafeteria in the mornings. Mr. Vadnais has been teaching math here at De Anza for eight years. Eighth Graders 49

1 i f The Mini Chorus fcenter photoj, sponsored by Mrs. Emily Lofthus, was active throughout the year. The Mini Chorus consisted of 19 students who volunteered their time in the morning before school. They accompanied the Cho- rus qtop photoy at most of the assemblies and also traveled to various schools and civic organizations in Ventura. Mv.MMzraafwMfaosA..3a ln the picture on the left is our new head custodian, Don Mart. De Anza's former head custodian, Bill Dobson, was transferred to Balboa, January 31, 1972. Mr. Mart worked here as a custodian in 1965 and l966. He left De Anza, and moved to San Luis Obisbo to be a prison guard. He soon decided that the prison guard job wasn't for him, and came back to Ventura and worked as a custodian at Cabrillo. Mr. Mart is glad to be back at De Anza, and feels like he is back home. Other custodians are: Mrs. Mabel Aten, Thurman Brown, Gid Howdeshell, and Wilfred McCleary. Eighth Graders 51
