9t lAJad . . . It was the best of times... We never wanted to see them end, but as the seasons of the year changed from summer to fall to winter to spring, so did our lives change. In the summer we were carefree. As fall came, we an- ticipated football season with its cool, crisp nights. 4 Oke Winter came and brought with it the chilling thought that another year was nearly over. We would soon be on our own. All too soon it was spring, then graduation. 00 CUuMmo m en we a It put o hearts together, our hearts Saw ontu one view. His main concern is making sure all schools, from kindergarten to high school, are kept in good maintenance. n t Mr. Trammel is from McCrory, Arkansas, where he was employed as the federal programs director. He has been in- volved in school activities for twenty-three years and was a principal for thirteen years. He enjoys hunting and playing golf. He also enjoys working with the Title I program in DeWitt. 23 From Left to Right: Carl Raabe, vice president; Tommy Williams, Jack Jordan, Eddie Lumsden, president; Sam Vit- titow, Elizabeth Graves, secretary The main purpose of our school board is, according to our president, Mr. Lumsden, to put our school policies in writing so each student will know his specific rights and responsibilities. The school board meets each first Tuesday of every month to discuss our school. 24 Elizabeth Graves Sam Vittitow HH Carl Raabe Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Tommy Williams O’ How’s this profile? Eddie Lumsden £ Jack Jordan _J4i(fli School principal darroll jbenton According to Mr. Carroll Denton, one of the best aspects of being a principal is getting to see students’ attitudes change as they mature. He feels that DHS has an excellent student body and faculty which make our school great. Mr. Denton, principal at DHS for five years, said, “It is good to know that I am a part of a great school.” WML School Principal im ,merion Mr. Jim Emerson has a big responsibility as prin- cipal of DMS, a job he has held for five years. Swan'the Izod Alligator and Ralph Lauren’s Polo suddenly hit DHS as great status symbols in a|v,n Kleini jeans, Nike tennis shoes, Sperry TopSiders, or a Jordache sweater, belt or pair of pants were a must for the wardrobe unless one didn’t care to be classed as a nobody. Along with the designer craze came the punk fads. Shorter hair styles for the guys; very slim neck ties or silver hair could help to give one the punk image. How long will these fads last? Only time will tell. 184 As we draw near to the end of the year, our thoughts turn back to the best of times in our 81-82 school year. We remember that 1 st day of school when we made it rain in the opening assembly. As autumn turned to winter and the faithful Dragon fans followed their team, we knew those good times would never happen again. We happily welcomed the snow and the wonderful unexpected vacation it brought. As we part again for another summer vacation, we can reflect on thse happy memories and truly realize that these have been “The Best of Times.” A special thanks goes to many people for helping to bring together these memories into one treasured book. Mr. Jimmy Devore deserves a big thanks for taking many pictures for the 82 DRAGON free of charge. A special thanks goes to Jackie Fox for designing the cover of our book. She spent many long hours working and did a beautiful job. Vickie Overton Ed- wards donated many pictures to us, and we appreciate her for it. A big thanks goes to Mr. Ralph Relyea for developing pic- tures for us. Our parents have been very understanding, and we love them for it. The faculty and administration have been very cooperative with the DRAGON staff, and we express our appreciation to them. To all these people we give a special thanks. 185 s WAL-MART Stuttgart, AR attendee camp 1 b her divi larched ir rmed with pital Jane Berry attend ing camp 2yrs., 2 ched in the pari with 2 batons in tj 2, attended 2 day clinic.
