CLINTONIAN SQUAD Mrs. B. Isaacs LIBRARY SQUAD Miss C. Fitzgerald and the feeling of nostalgia, reverence, and laziness came the Fourteenth Annual Clinton Nite performance featuring c'Command Deci- sionf which was a smash hit. But the firsts were not all enjoyable, we got a taste of Qughj regents. For most of us, this meant strenuous review of Biology and Tenth Year Math. Yet, despite the uncertainties, we emerged victorious, minus only a few linger- nails. After the regents we were able to look around and enjoy the arrival of summer in all its splendor. September, 1955 - January, 1956 This was it. We had now completed half our high school education and were only one step away from being seniors ourselves. Jay Levine was elected C.O. President. The social season included the Seventh Annual Music Nite, and dances with Iulia Richman and Hunter High Schools. The Clinton Steamroller trampled Stuyvesant Cfor the fourteenth time in fifteen yearsj by the score of 39-12. This was not unusual since we swamped the rest of the city and became mythical city champs

defeated Brooklyn Tech for the city title. Once again the snow fell and we trooped to school flinging snowballs at everything and everybody. February, 1955 - June, 1955 This was the term of famous firsts. Lou Rossi demonstrated his overwhelming popu- larity by becoming the first boy in 30 years to be re-elected President of the GO. Though the basketball team did not enter the play- offs, VVayne Davis, our sensational hoop star, was selected for the All-City High School Basketball Team. In baseball, Don Wliit- comb, playing his fourth year as catcher, piloted the Red 'n' Black to a triple tie for division honors between Evander, Monroe, and Clinton Cwe took second place in a play- off matchj. And spring came, the snow melted, the green grass grew strong on our spacious lawn Cdespite the heavy weight of seniors lying on itl, the trees bloomed, and even the ivy on the building bared its green beauty for all to see. Qthis, incidentally, for the first time since l932j. And then, as We awoke one morning, and looked through the apertures in our walls known as windows, we perceived that autumn was gone. XVe deduced this by discovering that snow lay on the ground. Snow, that turned the brown earth, green cars, gray Walls, and black Clinton jackets to White was here with all its wonders. Then came the period of relaxation for most, while the others struggled through various regents. February, 1956 - June, 1956 After the hectic last two weeks in janu- ary, we resigned ourselves to the fact that We must return to our beloved hilltop retreat and try to train our minds to do a little think- ing. This was invariably difficult since we hardly ever got along with the teachers some sleepy program committee selected for us Cprobably by picking lotsj. And after many vain attempts to have our programs changed Kas juniors We knew all the anglesj, we suc- cumbed to the will of the minority. Richie Pomboy was elected GO. President over Lee Nackman by a majority of eleven votes. In basketball we were Qas Was usually the casej champs in our division, but Were defeated in CLINTON NEWS Mr. L. Simon STUDENT COURT Mr. G.
