QDAY The Seniors oT De WiTT ClinTon launch Their yearbook, dedi- caTed To The imponderable TighTing spiriT oT Senior Classes, pasT, presenT, and TuTure. ln a sense, The momenT is mosT opporTune. Preoccupied as we are wiTh The harsh realiTies and conTlicTs oT The aTTermaTh oT The war, and absorbed in The diTTiculTies oT college enTrance, iT is more Than ever necessary noT To lose sighT oT The inTrinsic value and pleasure oT The com- radeship, spiriT, and scholarship which each Senior Class sTrives To achieve and perTecT. IT we seem To be producing a yearbook ThaT is desTined only To produce a laugh, as oThers have done, remember ThaT The liTerary work crysTalized among The pages oT yearbooks pasT, presenT, and TuTure, does noT represenT an escape Trom real liTe To The proverbial ivory Tower. IT is raTher, an aTTempT To keep alive The Things which made our exisTence worTh while. A school bereTT oT laughTer is a morbid place aT besT. ClinTon is noT a morbid place and since we are Trying To capTure iTs immorTal spiriT, humor is a prereguisiTe. We and our predecessors, ThereTore, Teel ThaT a laugh, a smile, a ioke, if They serve, many years Trom now, To bring back TeliciTous memories oT The days when we were happy-go-lucky kids wiTh aspiraTions Tor The Presidency, are The righT componenTs Tor any yearbook. Our eTTorTs are The ss-TTorTs oT youTh, noT disillusioning and despairing, buT Tired by idealism and hope, and underlined by whaT we hope To be a sense oT humor.
