SPRING: Speaking of Senior hats, the Seniors wore them on the neck this term ..,. Penny milk was introduced in the lunchroom ..,. Mr. Gallo became the first of Clinton's faculty to don the uniform of his country .... A huge Gymkana was staged, with most of the clubs and squads of the school represented .... The Mosholu quintet captured the Bronx basketball crown, but Franklin nosed us out in the city championship .... Broadway came to Clinton with the production of A Connecticut Yankee on Clin- ton Nite .,.. The Magpie sponsored a contest with a date with a Powers model as a prize .... The tennis team won the city cham- pionship .... The death of Mr, Gallagher, late session dean, came as a great shock to his many friends in Clinton .... Little did we dream that the same hat we scoffed at in our freshman year would become ours when we reached our Senior term .... Even this grotesque replica of the Civil War could not shake our awe for the lVIighty Senior .... We couldn't help liking Clinton despite the fact that very often searching parties had to be sent out to find us in that wilderness of halls .... The News lnquiring Reporter asked, at that time, Should America declare war on Nazism? . . . Those were the days we had a foot- ball team, and Clinton came through with five wins out of seven tries under the leadership of Steve Skapenic .... Feeling was high when Principal Clark forbade the wearing of the traditional Senior hat .... Qur cross-country team took first place in the P.S.A.L. meet .... A straw vote conducted by the Clinton News predicated an overwhelming thirdaterm victory for FDR .... The quiet of a Sunday afternoon was shattered by news of the Pearl Harbor tragedy .... Mr. Clark's simple, but stirring address set the keynote to Clintons participation in the war effort .... Bond sales soared .... A War stamp barometer was set up in the rotunda .... Numerous War drives received full support from Clinton .... We still had normal activities . . .Cn 0. dances . , . elections. 1942 . . . SPRING: We were fourth termers with one-half ofthe rocky road to graduation almost over .... Is Zat So, Clinton Nite production, was a smash hit .... The city championship was captured by Clinton's track team .... Fire drills were augmented by air-raid drills ..,.
