FIRE IDE CHAT Every now and then, we are presented with an opportunity to regard ourselves critically and to conduct a patient review, to examine what we have already done and to determine, as a consequence, our future policies. Such an opportunity is now made available to us, the Class of June l940, hoth collectively and individually. For tour years, we have heen malcing our several marks in Clinton. Now the hour has come to inspect what we have done, to test the things we have accomplished. For some of us, such an examination will he a welcome and happy experience. Vve shall find our ledger filled with records of scholastic success and achievement. For these few, it will serve as a virtual pat on the hack, a sentimental reward for a taslc well done. For others of us. our inventory will resolve itself into a force- ful reminder that we have been lying down on the joh, merely drifting along when we might have been doing great things. ln such of us. it will arouse feelings of justified remorse and, we trust, ot increased amhition. For a good many of us, our test will prove itself a sad awalcening, a hitter realization that we have made little use of the four years we have spent here, that at times when we might have been employing ourselves to hetter advantage, we were occupied with matters of little consequence. For such of us, it should he a potent warning, a strong incentive tor increased effort. Whether it will or not, the individual alone is capalole of deciding. And whatever the result of our inventory, let us rememher that there will he many another like it in the years to come, many another chance to settle our accounts with ourselves, the final judges. And let us endeavor to make each succeeding settlement more joyous and more satisfying: let us attempt to our lives with rich and profitable accomplishments. Good luckl Peter Moraites 56 lilly 7.1- .L- l it 0
