HONOR SCHOOL QQUAD Vvhile l was in this intellectual coma, I tound time to watch the school roll by. Somehow, during that fall season, the 3062 blue pastelooard lcnown as the G.0. card did not bring the same liind ol pleasure it had previously . . . the stirring G.O. elections: the exciting football and basketball seasons, the mammoth Club Carnival in Gym with more than thirty Clubs represented: the ugirls gazetten ol the Clinton News and the promised Stadium. But it bring other pleasures. The main event was the Clinton Anni- versary. the celebration Y ' editions of the Magpie and the Clinton News, and also a jubilee on December fourth with atlwletic contests, plays, speeches by the lead- ing school personalities, and, ol course. dancing. Lite rolled on lor me slowly and lazily through the winter months, and on into the spring. Peace Assemblies again, the Rus- sian Hats ol the Seniors, the News pretty Girl Contest. plays in the Clinton auditorium the rumors about thi- reorganization ot ilu- l8Alth Street annex into science school. All ol this gave no hint ol' the monster that lay just ueyond the horizon. and l was caught coni- pletely unaware when t e French teacher one day brought up the subject ot Regents. Rege ts? Vvhat were they? The subject was fully explained, with emphasi . , ' ' ' - ing. l was thoroughly lrightened by an examination in a subject with which l had not even a spealcing acquaintance, and l crammed. spent hours in the Arista Help Classes, and slept each night with the French Boolc under my pillow. But all too late to avoid disaster. Nervoiis as l was on the exam day, l spent nearly the entire three hours on the conjugation ot avoir, and sweated lilce a sponge when I came out. 26 ..-Sant

n , I fa BL P i P i v E P nevertheless, a triple session seemed like a major catastrophe to us coming haclc in September. The hoys aloove the fifth term, among whom we were inconspicuously included, went to school from 8:00 to 12:45, a hit different from the 8:50-to-2:40 arrangement which we had had helore. The Honor School was temporarily in session from 9 to 2:30, hut in January all hours were made the same. We never really sacrificed so much for school, as when we had to crawl out of hed on those hitter winter mornings an hour earlier than 1-ver hetore. The change in the G.O. card came as no surprise though, he- the size of the G.O. deficit. The new G.O. card was priced at forty cents, and it wasn't really a card. hut a twelve page looolclet. How can you stand there and place any other year hetore your Senior year? It is disgraceful, and what is more, it is treason against the Senior Council.
