Band Marchers Perform At Cedar Point The entire band took a day off from school and traveled to Cedar Point to perform for visitors in the morning, using the rest of the day to enjoy the rides free. Lou Ann Hewitt became the first girl drum major due to her advanced twirling ability. She led the band at all home football games and at Warren Harding. Two of the home games in which the band used a four man squad marching technique were televised. The band held two formal concerts in the spring and they also marched in two parades. Members held tag day with the orchestra to earn money to supplement the Board of Edu- cation's music budget. Production Committees Chairmen Organize, Carry Out Time- Consuming Tasks Students worked long and hard making the necessary preparations for the yearly school theatrical productions. Members of lVlr. Tom Bollin's Stagecraft and Lighting class spent hours working on the elaborate revolving set and winding staircase for The Sound of Music . Teachers helped out by offering their advice to the various committees. Work on DeViltries began last summerwhen Dan Vandivort, Student Director, and Jane Draper, General Chairman, began writing the script for Mother Knows Best . Steering Committee chairmen began organizing their committees months before opening night, lVlarch 23, in order to have ample time to pre- pare for their part ofthe production.
