Spirit Committee Holds Slave Sale Four committees and boards served DeVilbiss. They were the Spirit Committee, the Student- Faculty board, the Human Relations committee, and the Iudiciary board. Spirit Committee devoted their time to making signs and posters for football and basketball games. They also supported the mothers' bake- sale for the Schneider memorial by making signs to advertise it. Difficulties arose with the choosing of the Student-Faculty board. It was finally decided that the Executive board would interview prospective members. The faculty were late in selecting their representatives. This delayed the actions of the Student-Faculty board. Phil Kaufman, Human Relations advisor said, The purpose of the Human Relations committee is to promote better human relations by working together through contacts to promote justice. A newly formed board, the Judiciary board, consisted of five students. These students studied Robert's Rules of Order and were responsible for keeping order at Student Government meetings. Student Government Holds Open Forum In an effort to get things out in the open, Student Government held an open forum on Ian- uary 6, 1971. This meeting was informal with all the officers sitting on the floor of the stage and President lim Black leading the discussion. Many proposals were brought up but none was voted on ecause it wasn't considered abusiness meeting. The open meeting was a new idea that was meant to give more students an active voice in Student Government policies. The new constitution which was adopted at the end of last year was put into action. This year Vice-President Mark Everhart presided at the meetings. Government donated one hundred dollars to the Pakistan relief fund after the disaster there. Some of the money for this fund was earned ,Y from Santa's Mailbox.
