But no matter what the goal is that we are trying to reach, the two indispensable ingredients are knowledge and imagination.. Know- ledge is understanding the steps for- ward made over the span of civiliza- tion. Behind knowledge stands a teacher. lmagination is the formation of ideas never before perceived in their entirety. Behind imagination stands inspiration. An undertaking so vast in scope as the Seaway, indeed, demanded edu- cated and creative minds. Gur teach- ers are dedicated to forming minds such as these. They provide us not only with learning but act as an in- spiration to achieve for ourselves. For in a world such as ours we will be call- ed on to aid in projects no less impor- tant than the Seaway. Our ability to meet this challenge depends on what we accomplish during our high school years. With as fine a faculty as we have there is no doubt that this period of preparation will reap a reward rich in realization and fulfillment. Ship passing through Eisenhower Lock.
