' X E Qfcdxfjxa! ff 5 Z, J K- Twenty-one years ago, when the new school in the west end of Toledo opened its doors for the first time, a group of stu- dents, with keen eyes to the future, embodied in a code the principles and ideals for which that school should stand, then and now. The traditional Code of DeVilbiss l ligh School contains six ideals which, if achieved, effect a richer and fuller life. As the school adopted these principles, so too did it choose their symbolizing colors for its color standard. Color. , . everywhere there is color . . . and it gives spirit and brightness to every phase of life. Perhaps you have never been aware of all the colors that are evident in your school. The building, outwardly, is most attractive. An artist's delight is DeVilbiss in summer-red brick against a background of fresh green, in winter, snow paints another bright picture as it covers the surrounding campus with a blanket of sparkling wljiite. lnside DeVilbiss, numerous activities vivify school days. Participation in clubs, sports, plays, and dances emphasizes the diverse shades of interest in the life of a loyal DeVilbiss student. You can now see why it is so appropriate to connect our codels ideals with color. The brilliant hue of red indicates l-lonor in our code. Green stands for Growth, not only in stature but also in living har- moniously with our fellow man. Gay yellow symbolizes Wisdom, all that knowledge gained in the golden years of youth. Beauty is blue, lruthfulness, orange-how well these two colors complement each other, for where truthfulness is found there too is beauty. Qur last and loveliest shade is violet, the symbol of Service for others.
