Today the hest of music, oratory, humor, and drama passes from tall towers rising above far-flung cities over the air-waves to millions of homes. Behind this seeming miracle is the hard work, the intelligence, and the perseverance of the man in the control room. There is one man in DeYilbiss High School who fully deserves this title, the man who directs the kaleidoscope of DeVilbiss school life-llerritt C. Nauts. In each of the many facets of the school we can see the reflection of his unceasing efforts, his skill in guiding the lives of DeYilbiss students. At his fingertips he keeps the know- ledge of the complicated mechanism behind the activity at DeVilbiss just as the man in the radio control room manages the entire activity of the broadcasting studio. llr. Nauts has under his able control the thousand and one things which are not apparent to the causal observer-the correspondence with colleges, the arrangement of programs such as the concert series, and participation in P. T. A. workg just as his counterpart in the broadcasting studio must he responsihle for a great many diversified tasks. Our leader does not cast him- self as the chief character of the script of school life, but the etliciency, the colorfulness, and the human-ness of DeYilbiss High School would he greatly lessened were it not for Princi- pal Nlerritt Nauts-the man at the controls. 10 y

- DEANS Radio listeners know that much of the success of a program is due to the proficiency of the technicians. It is in their competent hands that every program is shaped and man- euvered into a clear, concise, fin- ished product. VVe in DeVilbiss are fortunate in having capable techni- cians who strive diligently through- out the year to form and polish our personalities. 51221,f3IQIfiiI1.'1ffIfliTiliillil,Affffif-.i1,ff3E'.EZfUSSMlm The rlnimafed indiriduillify Of M 1'-QS Jlildred Pasch lends itself well to the position of dean of girls. As an excellent electrician in the affairs of our lives, she has wisely and under- standingly relieved and stabilized conditions of school static. She has won for herself the respect and es- teem which her position merits, and has established with the feminine portion of our student body a strong bond of confidence. Jlr. llzfllzffs record as dean of boys parallels that of Bliss Pasch in pep and popularity. He is constantly o11 the alert for the cue which will promote the best interests of all who seek his advice, and his connnon sense and frankness help him to handle any situation tactfully. The niceties of school etiquette when typified and presented by illiss Grace Krofz, Dean of Vlasses, earn and hold the interests of her listeners. Combining her obvious talent for good form with a cheerful disposi- tion and boundless energy, she has proved to be a likeable adviser in her classes and in outside work. As director of programs, she skillfully presents to students details which are not included in the regular cur- ricuhnn. Mr. Louis llflatlrias, Director of Activities, finds his work complicated, but apparently enjoys it nevertheless. As master of ceremonies, he provides a Varied program selected for the diverse interests of the listeners. His willingness to cooperate with and to take part in school affairs makes lVIr. lVIathias a real friend to all who come in contact with him. Such are the qualities of those persons who are concerned with the problems of every individual at Devilbiss. Their Htness for their parts in this program has caused students to offer their names for leading roles in the grand finale of a big broacdast. IQ
