We 've hit a few bad notes, and gotten some warning notes. We're all on different tracks, mixed in the studio we call DeSales, put together to form the hit release, nineteen eighty-one, eighty-two. Put it on the turntable. Turn on the power in September. K Occasionally turn up the volume so we can be heard. Play with the bass and trouble to get the right balance. Everything's right. . . o 4 «4 This is so embarrassing . . . and so is this! The usual duties of overseeing the curriculum and teaching staff, and being the last recourse in discipline are a part of his day; but so is teaching a course in Church History to Juniors, being spokesperson for the school to the public, balancing the many demands made on him because of fundraising. With all this, Mr. Tracey is still available to the students. He is always ready with praise for the hard played game, the good scores on a test, the work he saw being done at a school event. Students at De Sales need strong shoulders because Mr. Tracey loves to give them a pat on the back in appreciation for their loyalty and school spirit. 38 Mr. Edward Tracey Sister Mary Maywalt’s office as vice-principal demands that she have the unenviable task of enforcing discipline and checking attendance. This year, Sister Mary joined the Theology department to teach the Freshman classes. She has a special talent for organizing successful fundraising events and recruitment. Her school spirit is contageous. Through her, the spiritual aspect of the school is promoted. Sister Mary Maywalt Mr. John Fahy, as director of student services uses his wide sphere of knowledge to help students select future careers or colleges which will benefit them the most. Of course, this preparation includes scheduling each student into the courses necessary. No matter what the problem, De Sales students find Mr. Fahy ready to share his valuable time and knowledge. His cheerfulness adds an energetic glow to the school. The purpose of the day was to give the eighth graders a chance to acquaint themselves with the DeSales spirit. The morning started with a short concert by the DeSales Music Ensemble and an oratorical contest after which entrants received scholarships to the school. The students then went to classes in which they were treated to demonstrations of what they could expect to learn when they come to DeSales. Our hope is that the students left here with a determination to share in the DeSales experiences which we are fortunate to have each day. 93 ‘Don’t Give Me No Bad News’ Believe in Yourself’ Dorothy and Scarecrow meet.
