He was a man of great talents, in both sports and scholastic leadership. He was the kind of man that all high schools need, and we, at DeSales, were fortunate to have him. Those few years had a great influ- ence on many of our lives. Obfuit up o man to lfw j mt. Jim Dolgos was one of the great teachers who met our class in Freshman year. As a Math teacher of varied talents, he carried many of us through our first three years at DeSales. In his other role as Athletic Director and Varsity coach for football, basketball, and baseball, he made us number one. Jim Dolgos gave our school a purpose in many important ways and we thank him here for all his hard work. ----- U)'unt Dave Saracino came to DeSales in the beginning of our Sophomore year. He taught all of us English and was our class moderator for two years. He was a good teacher, and wasn’t afraid of teaching in a relaxed atmosphere, nor of telling us exactly what he thought. He brought the kids in our class together to work for what we wanted. CftiiSbios (y foM 109 You came upon me carving some kind of little figure out of wood and you said, Why don’t you make something for me?” I asked you what you wanted, and you said, A box.” What for?” To put things in.” What things?” What ever you have,” you said. Well, here’s your box. Nearly everything I have is in it, and still it is not full. Pain and excitement are in it, and feeling good or bad and evil thoughts and good thoughts — the pleasure of design and some despair and the indescribable joy of creation. And on top of these are all the gratitude and love I have for you. And still the box is not full. For everything we take in life there is something we leave behind.” So it was in The Summer of ’42, so it is in June of ’73. Soon we will leave behind us a part of ourselves. A part which we can never regain again. A part that will always be with us in the memories of our past four years at DeSales. We have molded our own boxes. We have shaped and carved each one to our own taste. The time will come for every one of us to fill each box with whatever we have to offer in our lives. For you underclassmen the molding has begun — time and work face you. For we Seniors that task has already been conquered — our job now is to fill each box, each of our lives to the fullest. This is our final task — one that’s not easily accomplished, but one that has many many rewards if we choose to make it so. This perhaps is an end, a time for tears and goodbyes as we approach our final days at DHS. What tomorrow holds for us, we can’t be sure. What the past four years have brought to us, that’s for each person to add up for themselves. We’re taking on new responsibilities and new lives, while at the same time we leave our old ones behind. An end — perhaps; a new beginning — surely. To all who have shared with us our many joys and sorrows, thank you. To all who have given us a chance to begin again, we’ll try not to let you down. m4 111 SBwjaetb M PDomU Geneva Club Beverage Sunset Bowl (P(thOthS A and C Trucking Mr. and Mrs. Peter Addona Dr. and Mrs. James S.
