Sister Marie Margaret was the first sister-principal in 1958—at which time a classroom was converted into the school chapel under the direction of Father Hart, De Sales chaplain from 1958 to 1969. During Sister Rose Adelaide’s term as principal, the latest addition—four classrooms, the vice-principal's office and lunchroom were added in 1962. During its fifty-eight years, more than 5000 students have been educated at De Sales High School under the motto. “In You, 0 Lord, have I hoped. 5

Pastor of St. Francis De Sales Parish Reverend Raymond Nolan Pastor of St. Stephen's Parish Mr. William McDonald President of Geneva Catholic Schools Board In 1912 De Sales was founded as an extension of St. Francis elementary school with the Sisters of St. Joseph and priests of both Geneva parishes as its faculty. In 1924 the freshman and the commercial department were moved to the present site, into an old house facing on Pulteney Street. In 1929. with Father Ball as principal, a brick structure was added (presently side to back stairs). While Father Nolan was prin- cipal, a fire destroyed the original frame building in 1943, but due to wartime condi- tions, it was not until 1951 that a new building could be constructed.
