Q X be X51 This man loves You, O my Son, To him Myself I will belong, The love that in Yourself I won I'll plant in him and root it strong, Because he loves the very one I loved so deeply and so long. St. john of the Cross Father Kenney's first ten years of priesthood have been a decade of devotion to his work, to his pupils, and to his God. De Sales has been fortunate in receiving the benefits of nine of those years-for- tunate because a man of such character and versatility as Father is so seldom found. Beneath his familiar smiling exterior lies a man fulfilling eight roles in the drama of education: priest, religion teacher, Senior advisor, history teacher, Sodality moderator, assistant football coach, and yearbook advisor and photographer. When Father Kenney came to De Sales in '49 the school had been in existence for just two years. In the ensuing years Father Kenney played an integral part in the formation of the spirit and character of De Sales. With his whole heart and body he labored to make De Sales the fine organization it is today. His energy vitalized our spiritual and scholastic life, his understanding and strength gave us comfort, and his courage sparked many of our football teams to victories. So many of our fine traditions have been in- spired by him that he himself has become a tradition-a tradition we plan never to lose, for he will always be with us in spirit. XVe owe him many things: respect, honor, love and above all gratitude. The dedication of this yearbook to Father Kenney, while not repay- ing him for all he has done for us, expresses in a small measure this graditude. As Father Kenney has always worked under the patronage of Our Blessed Mother, we beg her to accept our prayers and to bless and protect this Oblate of Saint Francis De Sales. Our prayers will be answered for Mary knows . . . This man loves you, O my Son. mis. 2'-X A ffw XX M? 'iifhs -aw t, f ,, KQV F all A
