Eugene Porter Letfs Make Music Together The D.H.S. choirs, under the direction of Mrs. June Taylor, had a busy year. The choirs consist of the Varsity Choir and the Girls' Choir. Their main performances include the Christmas and Spring Concerts held in the DHS Auditorium. The Varsity Choir traveled to Alexandria to perform a Christmas Concert for the patients at the VA Hospital. The American Legion of DeRidder sponsored the trip. Also at Christmas, The Girls' Choir sang carols at the local nursing homes and gave out candy canes to the patients. The Honor Choir and Fun Time, a newly organized instrumental group, performed for several banquets in DeRidder. A variety show was held in the spring for the student body, featuring both choirs, a girl's ensemble, a gospel choir, Fun Time , and featured soloists and dancers. The show was a big success! The choir held an awards banquet recognizing choir students and honoring the 19 graduating seniors. The D.H.S. Choir earned money for their expenses through a candy sale and a bake sale at the Arts and Crafts Festival. The choirs and Mrs. Taylor deserve much honor for their efforts this past year. 90fChoir Choir Officers: Left to right-Sharon Spikes, Captain Girls Choir, Deborah Dotson, Co-Captain Varsity Choir: Tim Hibbs, Captain Varsity Choirg Dorothy Dupas, Co-Captain Girls Choir
