Under the direction of coach Dale Skinner, the Dragons played fine basketball. They only had seven losses the entire season. The Dragon basketball team finished the district season with a 12-0 perfect slate, The Dragons advanced into the playoffs to go up against West Monroe, however, the mighty Dragons were defeated by a score of 55-67. The team ended their chance to proceed to the Top Twenty-Four Tournament, but they ended the 1978-79 season in good standing, The starting members of the varsity squad are John Jones, scoring a total of 765 pointsg Rick Schweitzer, 376 pointsgMark Ades, 202 pointsg Elmer McClinton, 291 pointsg and Sidney Branch, 113 points.
