FNVIH4 Xuan Rutter Almost all at DHS recognize the warm smile and long black hair as characteristics of Xuan. During her attendance at the DeRidder High School she participated in several clubs, the French Club, Drama Club, Beta Club, Library Club and Junior Civitan Club. She was a member of the French Club her freshmen and sophomore year, the Drama Club her junior year, the Beta Club her junior and senior year, and the Library Club her senior year. She served the Junior Civitan Club as a sopho- more, junior, and seniorg becoming the sweetheart her junior year and Senior Board Member her senior year. Xuan attended the Literary Rally at NSU her junior year in Shorthand I and English III. She was nominated for Who's Who Among American High School Students. She was elected Junior Varsity cheerleader her sophomore year and then Varsity cheerleader herjunior year. To highlight her four years at DHS she was selected L'Who's Who at DHS? Chris Fahringer Chris began her three year attendance at DeRidder High School with much enthusiasm and determination. As a junior she became an active member ofthe Beta Club, Drama Club, and Leo Club. She stressed her abilities as a writer and speaker by writing a speech for the Voice of Democracy, placing first at DeRidder High School, then second in the parish. She entered the Play and Speech Festival at MSU where she received a superior rating in oratory. Chris also entered the Science Fair, placing second in the high school then third in regionals. During her senior year, Chris was nominated for Whois Who Among American High School Students. She also wrote another speech for the Voice of Democracy which won first at DeRidder High School. She placed second in the 1978 Fair Essay Contest. Aside from school, Chris is an active member of the First Methodist Church. 52fWho's Who

Larry Simmons Larry's four years at DHS were very active. He partici- pated in football, baseball, basketball and track, lettering his junior and senior years in both football and baseball. He was selected to the Summer League Baseball All-Stars for four years. His sophomore through his senior year, he was in the Key Club. His junior year he represented his class as Junior Board Member and his senior year he was Sergeant- at-Arms in the club. He attended the Key Club Convention for two years. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. For two years he participated in the science fair. He was selected to be listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Larry's four years at DHS have been culminated with his being rated 'lMost Popular. His future plans include attending Baylor Univer- sity, majoring in pre-medicine. Lydia Johnson Lydia's hard work and outgoing personality carried her successfully through her four years at DHS. During her freshman year, she began her membership in the Rodeo Team and Club, she became an outstanding member of the gymnastics team, and was selected as a member of the Pilot Pack Program. As a sophomore, Lydia began her service to the Juniorette Club and was elected as one of the Junior Varsity Cheerleaders. She received the title of DHS All-Around Cowgirl and was voted Sweetheart of the Rodeo Team. In her junior year, Lydia became a reporter for the Drag-On Newspaper Staff and a member of the Varsity Cheerleader Squad. Lydia became a Senior Sweetheart of the DHS Key Club, a member of the Beta Club, and was chosen to serve on the Homecoming Court her senior year. She highlighted all of this with being nominated to Who's Who Among American High School Students. MVIH1 S

Michelle Thomas Michel1e's golden hair and quick wit are two traits well known throughout DHS. Michelle has attended DHS the past four years, receiving many honors and recognition. She has been a member of several clubs including the Drama Club, Key Club, and Beta Club. She served the Drama Club her junior year as a cast member, and received the lead, female, chorus part in the school play, Little Mary Sunshine. She served the Key Club as the Senior Sweetheart and rendered her services to the Beta Club her junior and senior year becoming the Vice-President her senior year. She served the DHS Band and was in the Drum Corps three years. As a sophomore, Michelle became a member of the Explorer Unit at the Beauregard Memorial Hospital. As a junior, Michelle joined the gymnastics team as their manager. During her senior year, she was very busy serving the DHS Annual Staff as an assistant and serving on the Homecoming Court. To high- light her four years at DHS, Michelle was nominated to Who's Who Among American High School Students. Ju dy Powell Academically Judy possessed much devotion and assiduous- ness. As a student she excelled these assets in various clubs and activities. Throughout her four years at DHS she has been a member of the Chess Club, French Club, Drama Club, Leo Club, and Beta Club. She held the offices of Secretary Treasurer in the Chess Club, Reporter then Vice-President in the French Club, Vice-President in the Drama Club, and Treasurer and then Presi- dent her senior year in the Leo Club. Judy also participated in several Literary Rallies at Northwestern State University. During her junior year, Judy served as Features Editor of the Dragon-On Newspaper Staff. To highlight her four years at DHS, Judy was invited to participate in the LSU Invitational Spring Testing Program. MV II'I1
