The 1979 Dragon 9 started off the baseball season with two victories over East Beauregard. Under the coaching of Danny Geroy, the players made a fine effort on the field. Their losses were contributed to mental errorsg these stood in their way to being the best team ever. There were times when the Dragons plunged through and admitted to being victorious. An example of this is when the Dragons defeated Sulphur in the first district game of the season. The returning senior players are Gary Barrett, Buddy Burns, Sonny Hurtado, Mike Johnson, Scott Rittman, and Larry Simmons. At the time of publication the Dragons held an overall record of 10-7. The 1979 tennis team had a strong season. There were five returning players from last year's team. The team played their first match with the Leesville High School team and won with a score of ll-3. They also had victorious wins over LaGrange, Oakdale, and Barbe. The team placed first at the McNeese Play Day on April 7. At the time of publication, the District Tournament was scheduled for April 25-27 and the State Tournament May 4-5.
