flslappg flnlollidaiis lf DePauw students lived at home, it is doubtful that most of them would have the opportunity to walk in the streets wearing black lipstick and spiked hair, drink green beer and eat green bagels, or set up a 5- foot aluminum. rotating, music-playing Christmas tree in their room. They would thus be deprived of the joys of celebrating the holidays on campus. Halloween was one of the more popular occasions, mainly because it afforded the opportunity to eat large amounts of candy and cookies, to dress strangely, and to act even more strangely. Christmas was cherished for even more reasons: Christmas cards Cno more empty mailboxes, at least for a whilejg decorations: the Christmas choir concert and sing-a-long: watching I'?udoldph, the tiGrinch, and Charlie Brown Christmas specials and say- ing the lines along with the characters: mis- tletoe: caroling, and, of course, gift-giving and receiving. Without these festivities, fall 'l finals might be unbearable. Valentine's Day brought dances, candy, and flowers while St. Patrick's day was green all over. Dorm residents had an additional reason for looking forward to holidays blow Off books! Special Dinners with HUGE dessert tables. Why did DePauw students love holidays? Because it gave them one more chance to Clare Smith and Christy Barchet pose with a friend at the Tri-Delt Head Start Halloween Party Hogate Suite 3C decorates for the holidays. BR rooms sparkle with Christmas cheer. I' '- jssefe, f-:K
