RA's greeTed The eager freshmen and Their nervous par- enTs who were hauling all of Their 'necessi- Ties' To The smaller-Than-expecTed dorm rooms. Upperclassmen in green shirTs were a welcome sighT as They meanT help wiTh moving in, even if you lived on The fourTh floor. The busTle ended ThaT afTernoon as The Teary parenTs wished Their children good luck and lefT To reTurn home. AlThough lonely aT flrsT, orlenTaTion groups and floor meeTings helped each freshman discover a 'firsT friend' wiTh many more To follow. OrienTaTion groups, while providing such necessiTies as campus and Town Tours, also sTarTed a new academic TradiTion This year wiTh discussion groups. Freshmen were assigned summer readings dealing wiTh race, class, and gender and orlenTaTion groups held discussions led by Their advisors. The week was filled wiTh many Tesfs, The exciTemenT of rush, The fun of meeTing new people, and The discovery of The campus and Town.
